U.S. Water is proud to be one of Wisconsin’s few water treatment companies with an onsite State-Certified Water Testing Lab.

Water Testing:
Ensuring Your Water's Quality and Safety

Groundwater, the source of well water, is susceptible to contamination from surface pollutants, necessitating regular testing by a certified laboratory at least annually. Understanding the variability in groundwater composition based on location and industry is crucial. The mineral and contaminant content can differ significantly, highlighting the need for precise and comprehensive water testing.

Which type of water test do I need?

Contaminants, including bacteria, chemicals, and naturally occurring substances, can significantly impact the quality and safety of well water. A recent study revealed that 1 in 5 private wells (20%) were contaminated at a level that could affect health, emphasizing the importance of routine testing. Beyond ensuring water quality and proper maintenance of your treatment system, regular testing allows you to monitor changes in water quality over time. Harmful bacteria and contaminants are often undetectable by sight or smell alone. The only way to ensure the safety of your well water is through comprehensive testing by a certified test laboratory. While commercial water test kits are increasingly popular and widely available, they may lack the precision and thoroughness and accuracy provided by certified test laboratories.

Our water-testing process

When you choose U.S. Water for your home water testing, our proficient laboratory field technicians will conduct sample collection onsite.

Within a turnaround of just 2 business days, we’ll furnish you with detailed results. Furthermore, our dedicated technicians will walk you through the findings, explaining their implications and discussing potential remediation or treatment measures.

Recommended water tests

While the EPA regulates municipal water, they do not regulate private wells. The CDC recommends annual testing for private well water. Additional testing is advised following any changes in well conditions or local land use.

We offer a range of essential water tests, including assessments for microbial content, mineral composition, pH levels, lead, chlorine residues, and hardness. Our suite of tests covers a broad spectrum, ensuring a thorough evaluation of your water quality. See list of our most common tests.

Choosing the right test for your water

Identifying potential water issues can be challenging. While some minerals or contaminants cause visible changes or tastes, others remain undetectable without a test. Visit our “What’s Wrong with My Water” page to spot potential indicators. For comprehensive guidance, start with our FREE BASIC WATER ANALYSIS and consult with our knowledgeable water technicians.

Ensure the safety and quality of your water with U.S. Water’s comprehensive range of fast, accurate, and certified water tests, tailored to meet your specific needs.
